What Is 316 Stainless Steel Pipe

316 welded stainless steel pipe is a high-quality product known for its excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and versatility. 316 offers excellent weldability and formability, good resistance to seawater, chlorides, acids, and alkalis, and retains good toughness at low temperature, making it suitable for cryogenic applications. It is stronger than 304 at elevated temperature, although the practical upper service temperature is limited by oxidation behavior and the risk of sensitization in the 427-857 deg C range unless the low-carbon 316L version is used.
